When you think about Tenerife, your mind is almost certain to jump to thinking about sun, sea and tourist laden beaches. What your likely to not be thinking about is the volcanic landscapes that are begging to be explored. We definitely weren't when we went seeking a relaxing few days in the sun.

San Blas Environmental Reserve is located on the south east of the island, surprisingly, only about 10 minutes from the islands southern airport. We'd never heard of it before, only finding out about it through the hotel we were staying in as they had a connection to the reserve, and we're so glad we did.

The reserve spans across a huge expanse of land, consisting of all manner of rock formations, flora, fauna and perfect oasis'. We lost ourselves for more than a few hours on a couple of different days, just wandering and being amazed by what was waiting for us around each and every corner.

It was also an absolute paradise for anyone who enjoys taking a photo or two.
