Sticky Ribs & Spicy Bloody Mary's at West CNR, NQ

Manchester has had its fair share of American style diners come and go but there's something about Stephenson's Squares West Corner that seems to be really nailing the concept. It's a hip space without being hipster, decorated in bottle green and walnut with plenty of neon & big murals and not a single tacky red booth or shoutout to Elvis in sight. It's a classy affair offering up deli-diner food all day long with a stacked menu of everything from eggs hollandaise & buttermilk pancakes to specialty Ruebens & sticky wings.

If you head down on a Wednesday be sure to grab their Ribs Wednesday For Two offer where you get a full rack of ribs (£16), loaded fries or nachos (£5.50) and a pitcher of West CNR Pilsner (£10) for £20 all in - that's only a tenner each! We opted for their Asian ribs, smothered in an Asian style BBQ sauce and topped with plenty of Chillies and spring onions - so succulent that the meat just falls of the bone along with a plate of their sharer cheesy bacon fries loaded with house cured bacon, blue cheese Mayo & French's mustard, not the prettiest fries we've had in Manchester but soooo tasty all the same! What's truly amazing about the menu is that all their meat comes from Tib Street's Butcher's Quarter where it's all sourced within a 20 mile radius and the quality really does show through when you're biting into their juicy ribs.

If you've got a sweet tooth you can't leave without trying the Rocky Road Ice Cream Sundae, absolutely drenched in thick chocolate sauce, smothered in cream, big scoops of ice cream and plenty of big blocks of rocky road to fight over - move over Ben & Jerry's!

The cocktail menu is pretty concise but has all the brunch essentials with 4 varieties of Bloody Mary's to choose from, all pimped to your taste depending on how spicy you like them. The Bloody Maria is a stand out for us with warming tequila replacing the vodka, rounded off with tomato, lime, salt, pepper, relish and tobacco - it's sure to be the best hair of the dog! Also watch out for the special cocktail of the month, their Parisian Martini, made from Courvoisier VSOP, Mr Blacks and freshly poured espresso had us wanting more - plus the dusting on the top is shaped to look like the Eiffel tour when you look up from the bottom which is pretty adorable!

We've already eyed up their brunch menu and plan to visit again soon for more Bloody Mary's and their West CNR veg fry (eggs, portobello mushrooms, house hash, spinach, grilled halloumi, beans and toast). Let us know if you try them out...
