Best views of the island from Mauritius' Panoramic Restaurant
If you’re ever lucky enough to visit the beautiful island of Mauritius we recommend visiting the restaurant with the best view on the island, Le Chamarel Restaurant. Situated in the South West of the island on the edge of the black river gorges, a haven for the islands wild monkeys, deer and exotic birds, complete with breathtaking panoramic views of ile aux benitiers. Life doesn’t get much better than enjoying a cool beer in the hot sun with this jaw dropping backdrop.
But of course this place isn’t getting by on looks alone, the food is incredible too. You'll find the menu serving up traditional Mauritian dishes & delicacies but with a fine dining upgrade, expect plenty of fish & seafood with Indian influences. We'd recommend going for the palm heart for starters as it's incredibly fresh & crisp, we were recommended this dish by one of the islands locals and it was such a good shout. You'd expect to be paying top dollar for the food quality and the setting but the prices are extremely reasonable with starters costing around £3, mains around £6 and desserts for £2... you can guarantee that if this was in Manchester we'd be eating there multiple times a week.
With this restaurant having everything going for it it's become a big hit for tourists so there isn't many language barriers with most of the staff having a good grasp of English. We'd wholeheartedly recommend this place and will certainly be back next time we're back in Mauritius.
