Scandi coffee vibes in Amsterdam's trendy quarter
When we’re away our quest for good coffee doesn’t end and it often takes us on little adventures where we discover some really nice areas in the cities we're in. Scandinavian Embassy was one of those.
About 25 mins walk out of the city centre is the district of De Pijp. Not only is it the home of this beauty of a coffee shop, but also a pretty big market, some fantastic looking restaurants and the quaintest houses we saw all trip.
Step inside and Scandinavian Embassy is a cosy coffee shop, decorated in a cool minimal style. Bare wood, bare brick and splashes of green houseplants throughout. We really loved the open style of the kitchen, as people were cooking on little hobs directly next to where the coffee was being made.
We were only there for the coffee though. We sat ourselves around a communal table where our order was taken, opting for our usual order of a filter coffee and a flat white. The selection of filters they had available was one of the best we’ve seen, with about 5 different coffees available.
You could tell the people there really had a passion for good coffee. As it was served they made comment on the fantastic smell of the filter (they weren’t wrong) and even poured the first cup for us.
It was worth the walk out there, and we’d definitely do it again if we’re ever back in Amsterdam.
